Hi guys,
Today the lovely Lucy has written a post for you. Lucy doesn't yet have a blog but she wanted the opportunity to dip her toes in the water. I hope you enjoy this post and I'm sure Lucy would love to hear your thoughts!
My name is Lucy and I am a nail polish addict. I don’t
actually know how many polishes I have, but two drawers are already full! I've
always been interested in doing my nails, but there was a few years where I
didn't bother with it all, but my addiction really started in the Summer of
2012.
Due to illness I had to leave my job as an NHS
administrator, it was a real stressful and sad time for me but I found doing my
nails not only made me feel better, but it gave me something to do. There is
only so much daytime TV you can watch!!
So I started doing manicures more often and recently I have
started following quite a few beauty blogs, reading up on new products and
reviews and I absolutely love it. Beauty is a real passion of mine and I love
getting involved with all the chat on the blogs and on twitter. This may sound
a bit dramatic but it has really given me a life-line, I follow some fantastic
blogs and people and I enjoy discussing the posts. So Nicole very kindly gave
me the opportunity to write my own post, I thought I would share all her
readers my top 10 manicure must-haves!
1.
Leighton Denny Crystal Nail file
THE best nail file I have ever
used. Filing is always a job I didn’t
like doing (I didn’t like it at work either) as I had to use several files
to get the result that I wanted. This product has changed all that for me; it
is so quick and easy to use.
2.
Leighton Denny Remove and Rectify
This is a cuticle remover that
removes excess skin but it also hydrates your cuticles too.
3.
OPI Nail Envy
I’ve used Nail Envy for well over
10 years, it’s a fab nail stregthener and I use it as a base coat every time I
do a manicure. I tend to go for the matte formulation as I find that grabs the
colour and keep it on longer.
4.
Seche Vite
The most fantastic top coat I’ve
ever tried, I used to use Nails Inc. Caviar top coat but I saw a demonstration
of Seche Vite on QVC and decided to give it a try. I love that you can put it
on wet polish, the speed of drying and glossy finish are brilliant so now I
would never have another top coat.
5.
Leighton Denny Miracle Drops
With the top coat, this speeds up
drying to literally a couple of minutes. Ok, so I have a lot of time on my
hands (excuse the pun) but am I patient?? No way, I want dry nails and I want
them NOW!
6.
Leighton Denny Precision Brush and Corrector
This product literally has changed
the way I do manicures; I hate making mistakes and getting polish on my skin so
when Leighton tweeted me and recommended the brush and corrector I went and
bought it straight away. The brush is so small so you can get into the smallest
and awkward corners and correct those pesky mistakes.
7.
Leighton Denny Slick Tips
I use cuticle oil as much as I can;
I alternate Slick Tips with OPI Avoplex.
I tend to use Slick Tips during the day as I find it lighter oil which
sinks in very quickly and does not feel greasy. The smell is also gorgeous; it
has a light lemongrass fragrance.
8.
OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil
I use Avoplex in the evenings, I prefer
a richer oil before I go to bed. I have a “to go” gel version in my handbag
too. Apparently you can’t over moisturise but you can under moisturise!
9.
Liz Earle Hand Repair
My favourite hand cream ever! And
I am obsessed with hand creams (I don’t know why!) This is scented with some of
my favourite essential oils: bergamot, chamomile, neroli and lavender. It is
quite expensive so I have a back-up which leads me(finally!) onto No 10…..
10.
Dr Organics Lavender Skin lotion
This is my night hand cream, it
richer texture and it’s a great price for the amount you get. As you have
probably gathered, I rather like Lavender so I always have to have a tube of
this on the go.
So there you are, my top 10! Have
you tried any of the above, if so what did you think?
Big thanks to Nicole for giving me
the chance to write a post, I’ve really enjoyed putting it together and I hope
you’ve enjoyed it too.
Love
Lucy xx
